Comprised of small to large shrubs (small trees), these plants are from 3 to over 15 feet tall with opposite leaves and clusters of small, white flowers that are followed by fleshy, berry-like fruits. The fruit colors vary from red, yellow, blue or black. Flowering usually occurs each year from April to July depending on the latitude and species. Viburnum fall leaf color is fair.

Allergenicity is not common, since flowers are primarily insect-pollinated and pollen is heavy and rarely airborne. Since exposures are limited, so too are the allergenicity reports.
